Just dropped the pan (what a bitch) and the fluid looked decent but I am not sure if the amount of material on my magnet is acceptable, or even what it could be from. The fluid looked and smelled fine by the way.

Also, this is after 2 years of pretty hard abuse on a fresh built tranny. Never change fluid or filter since it was built

its a good bit but not harmful. everything looks good to me as long as long as there isnt metal all in the fluid

Fluid looked brand new IMO. So there doesn't look to be any torque converter clutch material in the fluid or on the magnet to you?

Does this rule out the TCC being worn out? Next up is changing the TCC lockup solenoid I guess.

usually the fluid looks awful if the converter is coming apart. what is the problem you have??

Well about a week ago, my lockup got pretty soft. It felt almost like a stock converter locking up. I am used to hard and fast lockup with this converter. I didn't think anything of it until I left work the next night and got on the highway. It locked up soft again and then when I would give it any more than half throttle, the converter clutch would slip about 2-300 rpm. It has NEVER done this before, and it has been in there for almost 2 years now. Nothing in the tranny tables has been changed for a long time either.

looks pretty normal... my 80e was a lil worse than that.... and it works just fine...

i would say its about right. mine looked that way the last 2 times I had the pan off. I havent put 2000 miles on the built trans yet. its prolly just that solenoid.

That's normal. Most comes from the first couple thousand miles after manufacture or rebuild since the clutches are breaking in. If you change it at regular intervals you'll notice it's much less with the 2nd change then it'll be fairly constant after that. My 05 has a little over 90k miles and i change it every 30k, the last two changes didn't have near as much clutch mud as the 1st one.
