Default How to race new to me turbo truck?

Hey guys I'm pretty new to turbo trucks I bought a 03 Sierra single cab that has a built 6.0 and built 4l80e with 3600 stall and 76mm turbo. Just seeing how to race this thing at the track and on the street do u just leave it in drive and hold on or u manually shift it. I mostly do roll racing but do hit the track occasionally just seeing what's the best way to drive this thing without blowing up the trans.Lmk guys thanks.

My turbo build is not finished but i always let it shift. If you are going to let it shift its self, be sure to have it in 3rd not Drive.... When you start making decent power you run a chance of scattering it if you leave it in drive vs 3rd.

Exactly like he says. Pop it in 3rd and give it a light spool up until you make just a tad of boost and let it rip. Play with it to see what your truck likes best. With the looser converter and a 76mm turbo I would think it spools real quick.

Honestly I'd start w 1500 rpm leave. Go up 1800. Then 2000. Eventually you'll reach a point where you will blow the tires off. Start slow man. No hurry is no worry.

Put gear selector in 3 and turn off all traction control

I'd suggest using rpm instead of boost. My truck blows all four tires off if I bring it into any boost off the line

So you are in 3rd at the line and taking off in third?

Put the trans in D3.

Pull up to the line, put the brake pedal to the floor and build as much boost as you can without rolling. Let go of the brake pedal on green and hold on

Putting the gear selector in 3rd is just so the transmission won't grenade on you. If the transmission is left in "D" (the part name I forget) will not be able to hold all the power and break.

Found the video.

It still leaves in 1st gear like normal in 3rd.
