Default 5.3 Vs LBZ

There was a big arguement tonight at a party (isn't alcohol great?), between a dude with a 2006 Silvy 1500 ECSB 2WD 5.3L and a dude with a 2006 2500 CCLB 4WD DMax...

Of course it was about who was faster in the quarter mile stock for stock... I was bettin on the 5.3L but I dont know much about those LBZ's cuz they're too far outta my price range

So which is it...

There are tuners out there that will put a Dmax in the mid 13's easy, This was part of the reason i bought one, gobs and gobs of power and economy. The best of both worlds IMO. Dont disrespect the 5.3 though, thats a great engine which with a turbo put my old heavy Z-71 in the mid 13's before i quit.

What's that truck run stock?

Not that it matters, the truck's owner is a dealer for edge, bully-dog, and many many other diesel performance brands.... I'm sure it was chipped up in the dealership's parking lot

My 5.3 went mid 15's stock, I doubt any stock LBZ's are running anywhere in the 15's. Chip for chip is another story.

I have seen a stock LBZ run a mid 15 at BMP. The LBZ runs pretty good stock. Here's a link to a stock one's track times. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=102746

I have to think the 5.3 would put it on the d-max. My buddy just bought a new d-max, has exhaust, intake on it and I can shut him down with my 4.8 with headers and hpp3, he has a ex cab d-max.

exhuast intake don't really do a whole lot to the dmax. I don't beleave you will shut him down. The dmax will run. Dully crew cab 4wd run low to mid 16 stock. Get lighter they get faster. The dmax will beat any 5.3 1/4 mile stock and mod its a joke.
