I agree, I think you need to run the crimp type clamps with the plastic (or whatever it is) hose. I think the factory hose looks like some kind of shrink type of attachment. I'm going to run the 415lph e-85 Walbro pump with that type of hose and clamp when I do my bucket. I'm also going to run mine at 43.5 psi for better flow.

Worm gear clamps are prone to work loose from the pump vibration.

I just pulled out my pump tonight. My Gates hose is very soft and feels deteriorated. I will be running the Racetronics hard plastic stuff for my 400 pumps.

After what I have seen I personally would not run anything other then the plastic hose, I have yet to see a rubber hose hold up well long term.

It seems like most of us with problems are from the north, and the southerners (and Alaskans ) have less deterioration of Gates hose. That makes me feel relieved that I sold my unused ones to a guy in Florida.


I had to think of something to remove any guilt from selling them.
