the last log I have right before starting this install, the ethanol content, according to the virtual setup, was 15.3%

after flashing the new settings in firing it back up, the ethanol content is reading 11.8%... I had filled up with 91 octane (from an empty tank) and driven about a half of tank before this install... I am definitely happy with the upgrade and looking forward to moving forward on my truck, without worrying about the virtual sensor issues.

Nice write-up, good info. Thanks for taking the time.

Since this has been completed, have you noticed fuel trims are more stable and consistent? Any economy improvements?

Thank you. The most notable difference is the amount of time it takes to get the reading (along with it being more reliable and accurate). Also being 100% comfortable filling up or topping off with whatever fuel i want to, at any time, without driving a certain distance etc. As far as my fuel trims etc., or fuel economy, I have already tuned the VE and MAF tables and had been playing with fine tuning it; where Im sure any major improvement in those areas are a result of that...im not sure the addition of a flex fuel sensor would play a large role in that (depending on how close the factory tuning was and how accurate the content reading was to start with), other than more accurately putting the computer in the proper area on the map, so to speak (in the timing tables, etc.), where it would be way off, if the content is way off. Once the content is read and set, I believe any notable improvements would have to be made in the tuning, for there to be any notable improvement in the trims.

I have quite a few data logs, but not many where i hadnt made changes in the tune. So anything I say as far as an improvement to fuel economy, simply by adding the sensor, may just be an assumption. It makes me way more comfortable now that i upgraded it. When the virtual reading is off, the fuel trims will be off. So I do believe, there may be an improvement, simply by adding the sensor (because it is a more accurate reading). But I wasnt looking for an improvement, in any area other than a more accurate and reliable way to read the content.

X2 ^^^

Thanks! I'll be ordering the parts tonight to add the sensor to my truck before I head down and have it tuned.

I know it's an old thread. I bought a 2013 GMC Sierra with the 6.2 L9H that has a BTR stage 1 V2 cam installed. I brought the truck home and proceeded to fill the gas tank with flex fuel. it took about 14 gallons to fill it up. the next day the check engine light comes on. so I pull the code and it was P0170 for bank 1 and 2. So I ask the internet a bunch of questions about my new truck and find out about the virtual flex fuel sensor. I'm half done with my install, the easy half. I just need to connect the wires for power, ground and the signal to the PCM, and then adjust the tune
.
Thanks for this write up.
