Default I need some Honda (h22)help

Well I sucked up a **** ton of water the other day in my dd h22 civic. It bent the number one rod so bad the motor won't turn over. Yes I took the plugs out and all that and I know for a fact the number one is done.

So being that I have to rebuild it I decide to go bigger. When you own a 12sec tahoe you get a need for more torque lol. I've been reading up on the h22 head and it seems it can be made to flow very well. Over 300cfm and up to .600 lift. But I can't seem to find any cams that go that big. Is there any reason why they only seem to go to .450ish on the lift? I think I found one cam that goes as much as .504 and that's it. This just seems odd if coil bind is .620 then what would keep the head from handling a .550 or so cam?

I ask on some Honda board but you guys know how that goes.

I'd do a h23 block with the h22 head.. As far as cams do the type R cams & roll out..

H22 block is weak and if I have to replace pistons you have to use certain ones because of the frm liners.

The h22 and h23 cyl bores use fiber reinforced metal liners. And regular aftermarke pistons will chew hem to bits. Not to mention when boosted will cause big issues. But the f23 has thick iron siemesed bores great for boost. Along with it's huge 97mm stroke is the ideal build for a torque monster. Which most Honda engines can't do. It's got a smallish 86mm bore but with a good flowin head like the h22 head it can fill the bore with enough air to do the job. Where as the f23 single cam head doesn't flow near as well. Corillo I believe it is make billet rods for the f23 and k20 (new model civic si eng) pistons made by wiseco are the same specs as the f23 piston. The rod stroke ratio is 1.45:1 and alot of people get caught up in the side loading piston speed conflict and dismiss the f23. But those that say screw it and build them make well above 200whp and 200wtq NA.

Not to mention when using a h23 block you have to run external oil lines to activate Vtec. Where as the f23 block weather you get a vtec version or not are plumbed in the block for Vtec. So there are no lines to worry about. The head bolts on and the h22 trans bolts to the f23. You have to make a custom water pipe and a few small other things but it's no big deal for power and torque that can be had. I just hope it gets 28mpg in town like my h22 did lol. Tank after tank 28mpg no highway.

Sounds like you know what it takes to get the torque you want. I never played with the big blocks lol

This h22 was my first. And after having it, it's hard to drive my wife's b16 equipped hatch. The way it just tugs at low rpm is so nice. And passing on the highway is seamless. Just give it a touch of gas and away you go.

Sorry to hear the bad about your motor. Going bigger is fun. I went from 1.8l to 2.0 on my gsr block and it definatly picked up a bit of torque.
