Default My Toyota POS and all its Glory...

Well the new truck burns oil like I drink beer. So I have gone through some basics looking for my quart of oil I lost over the last 2 tanks of gas.

No leaks
Plugs are fine and replaced

Some oil residue in the coolant tank, will have to change the fluid and see if it comes back. But the radiator isn't overflowing so I really don't think this is a problem.

Going to do a compression test next week after I buy a new tester. Don't know were my old one went

Depending on results I might check the valves, or drop the pan (need to change the oil anyways).

Biggest thing right now would be getting an oil pressure gauge, no clue what the pressure is.

Ok, pulled the rear third member... Dip **** previous owner tack welded the rear = chipped teeth and lot of metal in the fluid.

Now full welled in the rear, drives worse but hell got to give a wheel this weeked and see how much better it is...

Axles out

Metal shavings pouring out

A few chipped teeth, really bad pic...

is it a v6? my buddy had a v6 in his yota and it would burn oil bad....inded up being warped heads. I know that the 3.0 has its design flaws in the way gasses are exhausted thru the head that causes notorias blow head gaskets. just a thought....btw good lookin little yota

I have a receipt from the previous owner for having the valves adjust 2 weeks before I bought it. I'm at the point that a re manufactured engine is only a grand. I rather just rather put money towards that then fight little things.

Thanks for the offer, always up for some wheeling too!

wow i havn't heard that many people break a front r&p unless you were bouncing it. are you positive it was that and not a burfield? Since you were dragging the diff across the rock I would be careful not to catch the drain plug because it will get ripped out. Have you looked at aussie lockers for the diffs? they are much much better than welded spiders and they have good road manners.
