If I recal the valve covers look different also, this thread is really old by the way. Based on my knowledge 3v started in 09 in the truck.

my 98 f150 is the 4.6 built to a 5.0 2v procharger @12.75lbs. , intercooled, meth and still no power only 384 horse and 450 trq. at the wheels revving to only 5250.
