2V modular top end options

Alright... I have a good buddy that has recently bought a Lightning. I know they are PI 2V heads. He's amazed how little information is really out there when you get past '6# lower pullies'... its pathetic.

I's like to talk in more detail here. Head options etc. The PI heads have rather uninspiring flow numbers, even with a good port job. Clearly they get the job done, but I think there is more to be had.

What about 4V options? Is the conversion something attainable from a cost prospective?

4v isnt for everyone unless you go turbo

Best bang for buck head is navi heads which flow 250-260 and can be had for entire motors for 500$

Patriot heads we have on the blue lightning flow 200 and are budget

Biggest issue is 4 plug threads for most heads except late 03 and all 04

Knowldege is out there but have to search and read between the bull shit

Stock motors are picky...ive pushed rpm and they dont like it...rods are just completely junk

Navigator heads are that good? They are 4v, correct? And why only 4v if turbo'd?

This is an 03 and to the best of my knowledge has the added threads on the heads.

Who does a good port job on the TFS heads? The plan is to upgrade the internal components eventually. Still up in the air which blower we will run, but it is without a doubt staying blower. If it likely at this point that it will get the TVS from the newer GT500's. Kind of goes back to the point that with the air that these motors move the big blowers seem to struggle.

The adapter plates for gt500 stuff is under performing so may as well scratch that idea

Fastest average are 2.3 whipple and 2.6 kb

4v doesnt have options for blowers for intakes

One option and its worth more then many care to spend

Fox lake ports TFS and its 4500-5000 when all said done

Its not worth adding heads or cams on stock shortblock

Most come apart at 450 rwhp on average

Just cause 03 doesnt mean has 8 threads...only late year had them and not all

Best option if have 8thread heads is to send them to TEA

OK. I know there is a new adapter plate on the scene... they claim far different results than the original. I forget who makes it off hand.

I know who makes it and still hasnt proven to be worth it

As stated fastest trucks are the 2.3 and 2.6 with few big bore exceptions

Unless you count turbo then they own the fastest

Vortec350ss 10-18-2015 11:04 PM

OK. Not totally surprised to hear that.

When you say it hasn't proven to be worth it have you seen a lot of results? Just curious. I have not done any digging myself, but my friend has started. What tends to be the biggest problem with them as to why they dont work well?

Airflow into intercooler
Cost

Have him run a 2.3 whipple can be had decent price used but he best find a large ice tank, ditch the heat exchanger to keep IATs cool when over 20psi on built motor

Its nothing to see 200* in 1320' at 22psi with a 2-3 gallon ice tank

Looks like the fox lake portef TFS heads are only $2,795 shipped with their port job. Maybe that's the route to go...

He's all hot and horny for a TVS blower eventually. I'm biased but I'm not going to push him in a different direction lol.

whipple 2.3 will easily go 10s on a budget long block, one i played with went 10.79@129 with 1.54 60' didnt dyno much but played with shift points at track and picked up

truck was on 23 psi with 8.2cr
