I found a LQ4 with 140k on it out of a 2002 GMC Sierra with 180-190 compression. The wrecking yard will sell it to me for 845.00.

You guys think I should go for it?

IMO, you missed the 2 best configs for turbos: 370, 408.

Well, I was trying to keep the engine somewhat stock. Building a 370 maybe be better for boost but you're talking about an aftermarket crank, rods and pistons right?

The same wrecking yard has an 05 LQ4 with 113K on for 1200.00. I wonder if the floating rods and lower mileage are work the extra price?

Nope just pistons and rods, honestly you could do it with just pistons if you use the Mahle power pack set up they have pistons for 6.1 rods.

Honestly you are wasting time debating on what displacement engine to use. Also just so ya know the 4.8 and 5.3 have the same cylinder wall thickness. Since they are the same block. Boost what you have and make sure you tune is dialed. Once you blow that one up. Upgrade once you blow the next one up. Upgrade. Wash rinse repeat kinda thing LOL.

Are those for floating wrist pins?

If you have a 5.3L already, why are you worried about swapping engines.
If your boosted a 76mm/ wanting 650HP will be possible with any ls engine. The turbine side needs to be larger though with more c.i. The 4.8 will make 600+ at 15psi, I made 623 at a 17 thru a 80e on your budget 76/68 turbo. The 5.3 will be within + or - 1-2 psi of that power.

I figured it would be easier to install the ls6 cam, ls7 lifters, springs, and all that if I pulled the engine. If I'm pulling the engine, why not just do it to a different engine and keep my original one as a back up?

I actually pieced together my own turbo kit so I don't have the exact turbo you thnk I do. Thanks for the examples though. It helps me and I eally appreciate it.

I have a Turbonetics ceramic ball bearing 76mm turbo,HP76mm compressor with a F1-68mm turbine and .81 A/R.
