You don't need the valve spring if your engine is low mile 5.3 @10 psi. Or atleast I didn't.
I had 60,000 on my 5.3 before I isntalled the STS kit and ran it at 10-12 psi for about five months before # 7 went lean.
Instead of valve springs, I'd rather have a better intake. Now if it is a 6.0 then you need valve springs.........
BTW my 44 lb injectors did just fine on the 6.0 (and 5.3) with no meth at 12 psi.......

Everyone knows my #7 broke in two days with a tune from MTI.
Watching the scanner on the dyno:
12# boost
0 kr
11.1 afr

Might be looking for a new tuner for the next motor.

I would like to see the injectors on these "#7 lean motors" have a balance test performed. I have seen alot of #7 injectors clogged on stock vehicles I worked on at the dealership.

My new 44lb racetronix injectors had about 100 miles on them when the engine let go, so I doubt they were clogged up.

N.E.W. = Never ever worked. Dirt and crap in your gas don't care how new your injectors are. Just sayin its worth lookin at.

My 5.3 cracked #5 and # 7 pisions, It WAS NOT the injectors being dirt because I'm still using the same injectors on the new eng.

Can I get some specifics from you guys that actually have had piston failure. Where specifically did it fail? Ring land? Pics?

I've been running 10psi for quite some time now on my 4.8. I've even run WOT very lean on more than one occasion. I'm wondering if the 4.8's flat tops are inherently stronger than the 5.3" dished pistons.
