Default whipple IAT

I keep seeing all these posts from other whipple owners with very low IAT's, so I have a few questions. Where is the sensor located? Did you leave it in the stock location, per the whipple instructions, or did you relocate it? Are you using the whipple electronics?

It's been about 100* here for the last couple weeks, and my IAT's have climbed up to 180 when under a load, and not spraying meth. If I back off the throttle, they drop down to 145 or so after a few seconds. My sensor was relocated to the intake hat to get a more accurate reading. In the near future, I'll be getting electric fans, so I can reroute the coolant hose from directly under the intake hat. After running some errands today, I pulled in the driveway, and let it cool for 1.5 hours. When I came back outside, the intake hat was still almost too hot to touch.

I seen temps like that prior to doing the intercooler on my KB. If someone with a whipple is getting IAT's near ambient then they didnt relocate the sensor.

That's what I figured. That's why I'm curious to see if they're running a custom tune, or the whipple add-on. I'd imagine custom tuning with a false IAT reading would be pretty difficult. I keep having issues with the meth kit, and these high temps are killing me. I'm just looking for a way to get cooler air without spraying meth sooner.

unfortunatly, i never measured my IAT's before i installed the I/C. I left the temp sensore in the MAF until the I/C went in. We tuned it with the temp sensore in the MAF so it was reading ambient temps but the tune still worked pretty good. You could tell the difference on warm days though. I heard all those stories about the whipple/kenne bell have extremely low output temps, but i think Blown Chevy posted up a good thread not to long ago that had a Radix vs Whipple test showing a few comparisons. One comparison was output temps@RPM, do a search in the F/I section here...it should turn up.
