Default Where does whipple tap into 02's?

Just wondering if anybody could tell me where whipple taps into the front 02's? Or, what color wire(s) to look for?

I unplugged the 36 way whipple harness to try and do away with the their electronics- at least for now. Then I went to do some logging runs and there is no activity from bank 1 and 2 O2's. There must be some point that the factory O2 wiring stops and goes to the whipple computer instead of straight to the PCM. I'm having a lot of trouble trying to find out how they're tapped in to them.

Any ideas?

Edit: Also, do I need to reconfigure the MAF wiring? Is it tapped into the whipple and will it mess with the signal as well?

That is all the wires that go to the Whippleputer do, is tap into, or in other words tee off of the factory wires. The factory wires are not broken at all, if the installation was correct according to the Whipple instructions. Same with the MAF. But as long as you are willing to reconfigure the MAF wires, you should put an IAT sensor downstream of the S/C.

A couple questions:

Where do the wires tap into the factory wiring? Is is right after they come out of the fuse box (right behind the PCM?) It looks like the factory wiring goes into the fuse box (with all the other wiring) and then comes out. Right as it's coming out of the fuse box it looks like it gets spliced into by whipple and then sent to the 10way harness. From the 10 way harness they go to the whipple box and then out of it and then back through the harness and back to the PCM.

Does anyone have directions for a '03 6 liter or 5.3 whipple system? I read Whippled496's 8.1 liter instructions but it seems that my wiring is different colors. The whipple instructions really don't say a whole lot about how they tap into eachother either.

This is getting really frustrating. When I unplug the 36way harness, I get straight .450 mv 02 readings but great IAT numbers. When I unplug the 10 way harness I get DTC's and no O2 readings.

Anybody else go through disconnecting all these craptronics and have suggestions? I can't tune anything with this crap hooked up.

You can't just unplug the Whipple computer on the 03-up trucks because they do intercept a wire or two.

The wires that go into the fusebox should only be for power and ground, the instructions say to access the wires at the truck's PCM wiring harness connnectors.

Also, you shouldn't be able to make more than 2.5 lbs of boost with the Whipple computer unplugged unless you have wired a power supply to the bypass valve solenoid.

I do have the installation instructions at my house, but I am a couple thousand miles away right now, and I don't plan on getting back for two more weeks..

This may help you, but im not sure. I did not read it myself.

Think it starts on page 18

Sorry, I was wrong about your truck. I see from the instructions in the above post's link that the newer (newer than mine) trucks they do intercept wires.

Thanks 496. Actually, I think your instructions (the wiring portion) are closer to my setup then the the link you provided. I don't think there's as many connections on my truck as the ones in that link. The one thing that does look different is the MAF sensor pin color is not the same.

So basically, the PCM is already receiving the signal from the MAF/O2's and then it sends the signal out the the whip cpu and back to the PCM?

What I'm wondering is if I just find the correct pins for the MAF/O2's (where they were soldered in) and then just snip them. It sounds like that would work but I don't want to F' it up any worse than it is already.

i have the same exact set up as you foxyss. the wires that are taped are the maf and the o2's (i think it was the o2's). my whipple has thrown codes for both because of the wiring coming loose. i have notes from whipple that say what wires tap into what (color wise) and what pin # they are on the plugs. ill get them on here as soon as i can if it will help.

The whipple on my '02 silverado came with a plug that reconnects the wires when you unplug the whipple computer. If this plug was left out of your kit, I would call them and complain until I got one. This is much easier than backtracking the original wiring install.
