Default What turbo for my tow rig??

I am in the process of building a tow rig. The platform is a 1987 Chevy V3500 Crew cab 4x4. The truck will have a lq4/80e and 4.10 gears in the dana 60 and 14 bolt rear. I will fit the biggest intercooler I can in the front and buy a good meth kit. The fuel will be 93 octane, single walbro 450 and deka 80's. Big power isn't the goal for this truck nor do I want to be in boost constantly.I would however like to be able to shut the mouths of a few oil burners here and there. What would you guys use??

Box stock Borg Warner S475. 1.32 a/r T6 hot side is what I would use.

my wallet likes this selection! Shouldn't be hard to spool with a trailer in tow and would make 500+ hp at 6-8 psi.

I towed for a couple of years with a KB front mount 70 kit in my lifted 05 K2500HD. The turbo was way outta it's efficiency range by 4k rpm/12lbs but it had no issues with quick spool and pulling trailers with ease. If I had to do it again it would be with a S475 either 1.1 or 1.36, like Kyle suggested. I'm actually thinking of building a tow rig and pulling truck with a 4.8/5.3 and a S475 with 1.1 hotside

What about dd and towing with a 5.3/6l80 setup? I was thinking the 83 turbine and a 1.1 t4 or possibly t6? S464 or s471? What do you guys think?

What did you tow with it and did you have problems keeping it cool? Thanks for commenting also.

I pulled a 20ft open car, a 30ft bumper hitch round bale trailer, and an enclosed 26ft trailer. Never had an over heating issue except for pulling through the rockies and apalachian mountain passes. It didnt like the steep climbs and higher speeds. But it never over heated, just ran warm, with 05 elec fans and proactive settings in the tune

Thanks Joey this is the kind of feedback I'm looking for. I got the frame cut and the shortbed installed this weekend, next will be pulling the old engine and installing the 6.0/80e.
