Default What muffler/resonator that maintains turbine whistle?

What muffler or resonators are you turbo guys using that maintains TURBINE whistle but still quiets the exhaust?

Turbo Diesel guys have been using FTE resonators (no cats & no mufflers) that quiets down the exhaust but still maintains turbine whistle. It's a 4" inlet/outlet, 5"x17" or x30" case with a 2" straight pipe inside and auger blades around the 2" pipe that cancels sound. Also claims NO flow loss. Any thoughts if this resonator would work the same on a turbo v8 gas motor(5.3)?

How about guys that use 4" diesel mufflers like mbrp, is turbine whistle audible?

What muffler do you use? Can you hear turbine whistle through your muffler?

The whistle sound comes from the turbo itself (under the hood for front mounts), not so much "through the exhaust". My point earlier was, a loud muffler can overwhelm the sound that the turbo makes. I've ran a few borlas and now I'm trying out a magnaflow.

My truck sounds nothing like a ricer or even a v6 at that.... Maybe all the ricers in your area have v8 swaps?

a 416 that sounded like a v6?

Anyways anything straight through should keep that spool sound your looking for but still depends on the turbo. The reason the diesel trucks, specifically the Fords really have that distinct spool sound is because of the variable vane turbos that are used on them. They literally build boost on idle and how the vanes variably adjust is why they make that nice clear spool sound through the entire rpm band. It can be replicated but wont be as clear on a gas like it is on those diesel trucks. With my cutout open I could hear the turbo pretty clear and wasn't really that loud considering. The turbo exhaust housing muffles the engine down quite a bit. Ever thought about just running an electric cutout?
