Default What are the limits of stock '13 5.3?

Yes. Stock injectors, Stock fuel pump, stock everything...but now go and Turbo it.

On average how much Psi, how much horsepower can this motor reach without tipping into the "this motor is most likely gonna blow up soon".

motor in question is my 2013 RCSB 4X4 SIERRA.
5.3 DOD VVT flexfuel.

I was gonna do the whole longtubes and corsa and tune route but figured I'd just skip all that.

And go Trick turbo kit and have it tuned.

Rick has swayed me to go stage 3 instead of stage 2.

You are going to have to upgrade the fuel system, the stock injectors are not going to allow you to do much at all.

3-4psi on stock injectors. You will most likely need some kind of pump upgrade after about 6-8lbs. The motor can withstand a lot the fuel system cannot. The eliminating VVT and DOD would help some as well once your start pushing 10lbs+.

Ditto. ^^

On my 07 4.8, before I switched to my 80 lb. injectors I was maxing out the stockers at a measly 3-4 psi. That was on E85, but pump gas wouldn't be much more. Now I'm out of pump at 6 psi.

Thats kinda dissapointing lol...

I thought the stock E85 capable injectors were a little more stout.

4 psi is about 80 more horsepower boosted, Correct?

Thanks for the responses guys.

That really depends, but injectors run about $400 which would allow you to go to 6-8lbs which should be good for 80-120hp depending on the build. why are you wanting to keep everything stock?

mike at new era performance and his 5.3 is running 537rwhp with a whipple at 15psi on the stock pump which from what he has posted is either about maxed out or is. since his new mods probably added another 100rwhp, he is going to try and tune it to do more or swap it. the flex fuel pump should be good for decent power, you just need to swap injectors.

We were running 7 lbs of boost with stock flex fuel injectors. Now its at 11lbs of boost with 60lbs injectors and stock fuel pump and stock dod lifters on a 2010 5.3 flex fuel truck.

I should add to my post above, mine is a factory non-flex truck. I'll be dropping in a flex pump, or the squash pump when they are released.

squash dual setup looks dope. that and a hobbs switch sounds like a great system.
