Default What F/I setup would you rec?

Hey guys

My daily is a low miles nbs ccsb with a 5.3 and a 4l60e. I'm no stranger with these trucks, and I know under abuse the 4l60e and the g80 will fail with the new power. I'm tossing up the idea of buying another boosted car, but thought maybe I'd do the truck instead

What I'm wondering is that my truck is driven daily, ad used for towing on weekends. Driven in 20-35 degree celcius summers and 0-30 celcius wintersl.Typically I figured a roots style magnuson would be best. However, I'm open to the idea of a procharher setup.

For my driving what and why would you recommend for me?

Thanks chaps

A turbo would be ideal for a daily since they are less strenuous on parts and more efficient vs a belt driven blower. But the blower will deliver torque sooner in the RPMs. Im not sure how the roads are up there, but if im pulling up hills I would think a turbo would be making peak torque right in the RPMs you would be doing going up a steep grade.

Would never turbo a daily silverado, thats outta the question. I own 2 other turbo cars right now and not interested in going that route. WE need to keep in mind im located in Canada, and unlike the states, there are no local tuners here

You clearly have your mind made up then. You should change you thread to " which supercharger should I go with " instead of fi. Your still going to need a tune with a sc setup so why not get a turbo ?

Just turbo it! Mines a DD I don't have local tuners and I've had pretty good success with just mail order tunes from Justin @ BBP

Hey guys, sorry, I will change the title, I guess i should have been specific with just superchargers.

With a Blower kit i can use the Manufactures canned tune, and have Justin and Black bear make improvements from there Via email logs.

Does anyone offer a turbo setup that comes with tunes? So i can at least get the truck moving? What i dont like as much about turbos is all the piping, wastegates, bov's etc, they can be much more temperamental then s/c. Maybe you can sway me, show me some options. Im not lookingh for huge power, just typical improvments u'd regulary get from a S/C

all you would have to do is order a tune for what your gonna do and have an extra PCM ready.. or buy tuning software.

The only type of sc that will minimize your large piping is water cooled roots style. You will still have to mount a heat exchanger and run some hoses but that would probably be the easiest setup. I still rather have a turbo.
