So you think that would be my best bet to go with?

I can buy a Magnaflow diesel 2001-2007 4" front to back system for 357 at summit. How much hacking is this going to require to get it to fit?
Sounds cheap, what is the part #? I am considering doing 4" also.

Yea I dont think you will need a turbo back exhaust. but if you get a "catback" you might not even need to shorten anything, maybe even have to get them to fab from the DP to the catback. But someone whos done this will have a better idea of what needs to be done.

Just order some 45* mandrel bends from somewhere and a muffler of your choice and get the exhaust shop to put something together for you. Saves money. This is what I did.

Magnaflow 17902

My buddy has a NHRA license and apparently Summit Racing gives a discount for that. He can buy it for me at 357, normal price 414.
I think this may be the route I'm going. My local exhaust shop can do stainless
and it looks like even with a "cash discount" will way exceed this price.

Are there any design differences in diesel mufflers that would make them louder/quieter than a normal muffler?

Clearance is tight at the spare tire area, 2500's have taller frames and more room in that area. If it has welded hangers be prepared to have to cut them all off and make all your own new hangers. Let er rip! Post up some pics once it's on.
