Default Wastegate problem?

Awhile back I installed a new spring and it worked for 3 pulls and on the fourth pull went down roughly 66% (16 down to 5.5). I looked at all the piping and everything is still hooked up and no apparent leaks. I'm no mechanic and really don't have time to get in depth with looking for possible reasons. If any one has any recommendations please let me know.

Thanks in advanced.

Not likey, but check to the spring and make sure it's good.

Last thing you touched was the wg, so inspect that.

Loss of boost is usually a ripped silicon or a clamp issue.

what could I check to see if the WG is wrong? When you say check the spring as in for cracks or etc?

I checked all the clamps and silicone fittings and what was visible (I didn't take them off and do a 360 view) all checked out good.

Real dumb question but can you install a spring incorrectly?

The spring would break. You can't really install one wrong, just center it on the spring cup and place the cap over it. The silicon diaphragm could have torn causing the boost loss. Remove the cap and have a gander

Check your boost reference line for cracks and what not. Do you feel the difference or just see it in the boost gauge?

I would guess you have a leak somewhere in your intercooler piping or couplers. Probable pushed it apart somewhere. Usually when you have a WG problem, it's OVER boosting, not under boosting.

I'll check the WG and see about diaphragm.

I didn't check the reference line and there is a huge difference from what used to be and what is now.

I checked all the couplers yesterday and everything seemed to be fine. That was the first thing I checked bc I've had to change a certain one twice. I think there is some thing wrong with the WG bc it is only a 14lb spring reading a hair over 16, but now its only 5.5
