Default Upgrade oil pump? (front mount)

I tried to put the 222/226 cam in this weekend and its either machined wrong or bent. It binds after the second to the last journal goes in! I tried The stock cam again and it slides like a wet onion. After putting those STIFF dual springs in and looking at those delicate cam bearings, I thought maybe I should get a melling pump while she is down for the cam swap. I just don't want to go to high on the pressure and cause problems with the seals in the turbo or any other unforseen problems. Should have a NEW 212/212 here in a day or two

^very good point, are you having problems with your stocker? what kind of pressure do you have idle and wot? also, you can run a restrictor in your feed to limit oil to the turbo, i had to.

I have built LS motors before so I think I could handle the install . Thanks for the "be careful" heads up though.

I see normal pressure. Just thinking a lil more pressure might help the bearings live longer under the added load of the new springs and twisting her hard...

I had nothing but problems with upgraded oil pumps. Id stick with stock if I were doing it again.

My turbo truck uses a stock gm C5/ZO6 pump and with 20/50 oil I see 45psi at idle/68psi at peak power. My 416ci Vette uses a Melling high pressure and with 10w30 I see 65psi at idle/80 psi at 7k rpms. So to help you decide maybe
