Turboing my dd ?

I just don't understand the problem with running low octane fuel with a turbo, I'm not looking to have huge horse power right now. The motor is basically going to be stock, with a turbo on it , what's the difference from being stock and running 87 ? Is it harder to tune on 87 ??? Enlighten me here, because it doesn't make sence to me.

You can run 87...it's not impossible. It just needs to be tuned for. But it will certainly make less power without the added octane. Nobody really bothers with 87 though because an extra 20 cents per gallon can afford you quite a bit of horsepower.

Yah that's what I had thought, I'm not looking to make a monster power house, I think some people didn't read my first post. If it comes down to it and I just keep my duramax and the half ton, and have the half ton as a weekend truck then 91 would not be a problem and my power goals would change.

Nice truck. These guys are highly skilled experts. I'm just an enthusiast but can share my one turbo experience. My 07 RCSB 4x4 got 21mpg @ 65 with 4.10's and a 32" tire. 93 octane. It was a rear mount and it ran good for 7 yrs ago. Personally I would change the rear gears before I would change the octane. Do it! Nothing like a boosted truck.
