Default Turbo silverado cold start up smoke. Please help

My friend has a 04' Silverado 5.3L (110K mi) with a front mount T76mm turbo (brand new). Only on cold start ups he get smoke (oil/blue) out of the tail pipe. Once the truck warms up the smoke is gone and doesnt smoke again. The PCV system is vented to the atmosphere. The oil feed is at 12 o clock position with oil restrictor and the oil return flow freely. He is running 10w-30 M1 oil. I cant figure out why he is smoking on cold start ups only. The truck is running 8.75 PSI and runs really strrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

How many miles has he put on it with the turbo? My brand new turbo smoked as well but stopped after awhile.

Not even 800 miles on the new turbo. How many miles did you have to put on it before sahe stopped smoking?

I was thinking the same thing only that I wanted to be sure before I did that. I mean once its fully warmed up the truck if fine and no smoke. Warm starts is fine as well. Thanks!

Yes the turbo is brand new. The truck never smoked before the turbo. The drain line is goin into the front of the oil pan on the far right side by the crank pully. All the fittings are straight and there are no 90 in the return line.

Might just be from the new turbo.. However if there is some sort of restriction in the return line it could blow oil past the seals in the turbo, created the smoke.. If you say all the PCV stuff is good, run it some more, see if it goes away imo...

Yeah I am going to tell him to put some miles on and see what it does. I am going to drill oit the driverside PCV whole so it can breath a little better. I put breathers on them but they got gunk on them pretty fast and got clogged which is why they are just vented as is.

I want to put a breather on the oil cap but I cant because of the turbo A/R housing in the way.
