Turbo setup Questions

How deep are you willing to go into the 6.0? Boring it, then putting in some forged piston/rods and ARP hardware everywhere will give you a shortblock that can handle more power than you'll ever need.

Well im working my way to 168k on my 5.3 and plan on no internal changes to the engine with 8-10psi, and will run it that way till I can recoup some money. Then Ill throw all new gaskets, Isky 'tripple 12' cam, lifters, springs, pushrods, LS9 gaskets, and head studs and throw 12-14psi at it.
If you keep the boost low you shouldnt have problems running the current engine, just make sure to get the tune SPOT ON.

Also, is your tranny getting rebuilt to factory specs? if so a turbo will have you pulling it back out a couple of months later.

id love to turbo my 5.3 but id rather just build a 6.0 from the ground up for a turbo. I need my 5.3 to be reliable for work and school and thats becoming a challenge as it is. My dinkis older brother had this truck and he got into some bad stuff and totally destroyed the thing, so ive been building it slowly with the little cash i have at this point. I can get a 6.0 with 30k on it from a buddy for $1100, so my plan is to buy that and slowly build it til its complete and then drop it in. I would just like to know what would be the best route to go to make that 6.0 run over 100k with a turbo. im not looking for 800hp out of it, maybe from 500-600hp.

if your on a budget than i wouldn't touch the bottom end. they can handle a lot of power and last forever. Isky has good turbo cams, i would throw some patriot dual valve springs and head studs. 10-12# and good tune will make great power and be reliable. btw a built 4l60e still probably won't hold up well w/ turbo 6.0. should invest in a 4l80e while your at it.
