Put the truck in the air, all four corners. Mark the tires at somewhere, 3 o’clock on all four, and then hit the skinny pedal. If the tires don’t land at the same orientation you’ve got a problem.

Unless I’m wrong in this thinking @1FastBrick

This sounds like a good trouble shooting start. I will be on this first thing Monday. Thank you.

Still looking for anyone that might have further suggestion on how to tune 2012 Cadillac EXT. I changed to 4.56 gears from 3.43. I have 33 inch tires which is why I chose the gears. I did the same change on my 2010 Avalanche but had no problems. Likely the difference between 4WD and AWD. I have used two tuners Superchips and Hypertech without any results.

Shouldn’t have any issues between AWD and 4WD.

Did you do the test I suggested? Are there any codes when it goes limp?

Where are you loctaed?

wdhatch Nov 16, 2025 07:16 PM

I did lift the tires off the ground and the fronts wheel turn opposite direction and the rears same direction (posi-traction) equal revolutions as marked.
I have a Hypertech tuner and it read no DTCS codes.
I live in Monterey California.

I think it is something very small in the electronics. I synced the pedal and throtle body to make sure that was not the problem. It almost seems like the timing is retarded because it bogs when given any accelerator

Your answer back is appreciated., V/R Bill

@wdhatch Bill, consider starting your own thread on this subject. It may gain more traction from those more knowledgeable than I. We do have some members out in CA that may be willing to help.

I’m not a fan of the Hypertech tuner but it should do the job.

wdhatch Nov 16, 2025 07:22 PM

I will get another thread. I have also tried a new Superchips tuner I just bought but have the same results. The Superchips tuner does seem to go through the sequence of screens faster. I will back off on Hypertech and use the Superships.

It is such a shame this truck is beautiful and has melted into a paper weight.

Thank you, Bill

Well another 1500 bucks for a tune and still have traction control and ABS on. I am thinking it might be tone ring. both rear axle tone rings were changed along with front bearing hubs. I checked with MOOG and the front hub bearings are correct. Maybe the wrong axle tine rings. The truck constantly bucks putting the breaks on and off. If I turn off traction control and ABS it will eventually drive but has engine issues. I have not touched the engine only new CV, and front bearings and rear gears, bears and tone rings.

I am sorry. I do not have a reader that gives trouble codes. The GM dealer told me the front and rears axles are turning at different rates. They said the GM reader show the fron axles are turning at twice the rate as the rear axles. Three hours of labor from GM and no remedy.

I changed the front wheel bearings with MOOG-515096 which should be the same as OEM. The local shop that changed the tone senors on the rear axle said the got the new tone rings from GM per the VIN. These are the only two things I can think of that input speed to the senor pick ups. Front senor pick ups are build into the MOOG bearing and the rear axle sensors are new.

I runs with traction control and ABS off but fights itself to shift. Once in 5th or 6th gear it seems fine for a while them looses power.

Bolded statements above are pointing to the issue. Did the dealer tell you which end of the truck was reading the correct wheel speed? I am not aware of anything in the tune to change pulse count individually front to rear so I doubt it is in the tune. After installing gears in my 2012 Denali, only had to scale the trans shift tables and VSS for the new gears.

I have news. Today I tried disconnecting the front wheel bearing sensors and although all the warning lights came on the truck ran just fine. I believe something is wrong with the new fresh out of the box MOOG bearings I received. Today I went to Cadillac and bought new wheel bearings. I will put them in tomorrow and post the results.
