Turbo installed!
Well I finally got the turbo installed pretty much took all day yesterday was complete bolt on. I had to buy new heater hoses and alot other odds and ends, now just need a good tune. I drove it today without making any boost of course I will have to relocate the innercooler he has it facing the ground I will mount it behind the bumper, grille with some more tubing. The walbro 255 install I took the bed off, the factory pump is alot bigger than the 255 kinda of weird and installed the guage pod with boost guage and LC1 wideband O2 sensor kit,https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...pictureid=1934 at any rate here are some pics!

Looks like a damn clean install. Not messy under the hood at all like some peoples builds.
Yeah I was driving and got on it a little and heard blowoff valve for the first time it sounded bad as hell! The worst part of the install was the oil pan drilling was not cool with that but it all worked out.
Who's turbo kit did you use?
Hinson super cars out of Alabama I was going to use the Nelson performance but there's weren't done yet!
Looks good, if I don't sell my truck I'll be putting one on mine.
Looks good

Time to update your sig!
Very clean install. Whose going to do your tune? The right tune can make or break an install. If your thinking about Meth (which is always a good idea with a turbo), knock it outr before you get the tune. Rick |
My buddy got a mail order tune from nelson performance for his STS 383 T/A and he said he has had no problems!
Just remember a good dyno or even street tune is almost always better than a mail order tune because it's set to your specific vehicle.
Ryan if you don't mine pm me or post how much the hinson kit is along with some info about it.
I would never get a mail order tune on a turbo. JMO.

Who built that turbo kit?
No I have to break the penny bank for the tune before I start getting all crazy with it hard as hell not to make boost, and the kit was made by HINSON SUPERCARS NOW I WILL PROBABLY GET KICKED OFF PERFORMANCE TRUCKS AGAIN!
ah, the blow off valve. i love to pop it off at the import guys. they always try to break their necks to see the front of the truck. one day my wife did it to me while i was in our car. that day i felt bad, i never knew it was that damn loud. but the feeling passed and i still do it to other people.
build looks good just get that tune and you'll be good. |
looks real good. nice setup. definately want to see some dyno #'s and track times when you get the tune in.

Hijack over, as you were :) |
So yeah I have an apointment tomorrow at EFIalchemy in JacksonVille FL. they are only 140 miles away better than driving hinson supercars in AL 400 miles away and he matched there price I talked to Doc over there for a while and he said I would need a two bar map sensor so I will get that as well, he also said there is a navy guy over there that has the similar setup with the same fuel sytem and is running out of fuel at 515 at the wheel last time I checked the walbro 255 and 60lb injectors was good for 6-700 hp on a returnless fuel system, right?
looks nice!
just FYI, the oil filler neck can be removed from the valve cover and the cap placed directly back on the valve cover. You'll probably have to break it to get it out of the way but it keeps it from getting to hot and you dont have to look at that foil tape ;) just about any time I touch one of these things with that big filler neck it gets broken off and the cap goes on the valve cover... never had a single one leak either. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...mod-o/PPE2.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...o/IMG00247.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...o/IMG00205.jpg |
if im not mistaken you are right. you sure he is using 60lbers??? 42lbs would probably fall off around that hp level from what ive read and heard of.
one walbro won't do it on fi. n/a maybe but not fi. 13:1 vs 11:1 afr.
the oil filler tube twists out of the valve cover on mine.
I've had one come out like that so far.... The rest have been broken off LOL, the filler neck just looks goofy to me, use a funnel to fill the oil :P
can you just switch the covers?
mine broke taking it off too fyi |

I guess you could just switch covers... But if you get rid of the neck, the cap just twists right on the valve cover.
Sorry bout the thread jackage... |
Something that hasn't been mentioned yet. You're not gonna have to worry about maxing out those 42's or 60's and a walbro pump if you keep that flowmaster.
I did a before and after, Magnaflow vs Flowmaster, there was a 40whp difference between the two. The flowmaster just sounds choked up as well. Time to guess you HP numbers: 5psi = 350hp 10psi = 410hp btw, 60's a walbro won't support 700hp either, even less on a returnless system. nice kit and good luck, allen |
Man if I only make 350 hp I am going to pissed and further more I would have your kit but it never seemed like it was going to be finnished and I am moving crosscountry soon, I am going to put the 4" magnaflow diesel exhaust but I am straped now!
