If you weren't in boost, then it must have been a backfire. It had to be one of the two, it couldn't blow out with force if you were in vacuum as cruising should be.
​​​​​​They make adaptors to use 3 bolt throttles on 4 bolt manifolds, and there are 4 bolt cable operated throttles.
