Thanks guys I think I'll change the oil Monday and start getting into some boost. I have a little over 400 miles after today.

Changing the oil today. I let the truck cool down for about 45 minutes and the oil came out like water. It was just cheap orielly non synthetic oil for the first 500. Just wondering if I need to use a heavier weight oil with the turbo or stick with factory recommendations?

Considering you haven't gotten into boost yet, I think you're overthinking an oil change. You'll spend lots of time researching what oil type and viscosity to use... I personally use VR1 20/50 as OReilly has it locally.

I have not done any research on the subject yet. Is it one of those topics one guy says 5-30 is fine another says 10-40 and so on? I will put my mobile 1 synthetic 5-30 in like I normally do for now. Thanks

Technically you're supposed to fire a new motor, check for leaks and strange noises, then change the oil immediately. Then change after 1000. I think the important thing at this point is to keep 6qts in the pan and data log, get into boost, etc. You can always do more research regarding oil type and weights in the weeks and months to come. There's a lot of info out there but to me it does make sense that a turbo setup will want a slightly thicker oil, and a performance application will want more zinc in the oil, and my mandatory rule for oil is I need to be able to go to Oreilly to get it, so that's how I came to Valvoline VR1 20/50 which a lot of guys here and on ls1tech run in their turbo cars.

I wouldn't do synthetic until 5k or so just to let it wear in a bit more. Rotella is always a good break in oil.

Check engine light came on this morning code P0336 crankshaft position sensor A circut range/performance. Also noticed the oil pressure gauge was pegged at 80. With key on engine off the gauge reads 40 then goes to 80 when i start it. Any thoughts what is going on?

Sounds like a wiring problem.

Think the oil pressure and crankshaft sensor are related?

It is possible they share a common 5v reference.

Did both problems appear at the same time? If so, logic says they share a common problem.
