I run the M&H tires and love them. I was able to turn a 1.61 with them in warm weather. I have a hard time getting even heat in them with my set-up but when the weather is warm, they hook well! In the cold, if they are not heated, I end up sideways through the 60ft mark.

I've tried shifting back right after the 1-2 and leaving it in 4 high the whole run. It doesn't seem to make any difference. Some people have said that it won't shift out of 4wd until you let off the gas any way.

I need to know a few things before I can get you the right combo (done this many times)

1) have you ran your truck yet if so what are the 1/4 mile time/mph
2) what gear ratio do you have
3) what is your max rpms on shifts
4) what tranny is in the truck

Give me that and ill set you up wiht a combo that works. Guys on here ive seen are just throwing their power away buy getting these big tires that dont even put them in the right power band range going thru the traps.

I have 275 40 17 mt drag rads run 1.6-1.7s at the track and ran a 11.9@112 on them. They are on 17x8.5 and the truck runs so much better with them because im in the right power band going thru the traps. They are very light also and if i went with a taller tire just wont be in the power range.

wiht the 4l65/70e with 4.10s and top of 3rd at 6500 is 122 mph. Dont know what your redline is in 3rd thats why i need to get that from you and then I can go over what tire heights will do for yah..

I shift out of 4wd right after 1st gear. Now weather or not it actually does is a toss up. I think it does because the light on 2wd lights up. I think it feels a little slower when I leave it in 4wd all the way down the track.

if my buddy in his s10 7 5/8 rear end can run 11s on 275 40 17 drag rads (lt1) and its holding up fine i think you guys will be ok also.

Just i see these guys in here getting these tires that are just way to tall and honestly you dont need a wide tire in a mt drag rad. htey hook 10x better than the nittos and with a 275 40 17 or 295 45 17 that would be more than enough tire for you guys butttt i have to remember you guys redline isnt at 6500 so i would need to know the redline to get the right combo.

the wheels i get for the silverado 6 lug guys are on discounttiredirect.com 17x8.5 and work well with the 275 40 17 mt drag rad or 295 45 17 mt drag rad.

these work out great with teh above tires and for 2 shipped less than 170 bucks

Just for reference.

3rd on the 4L60E IS 1:1
with 275 40 17 at 6000 rpms you would be at 112 mph
with 295 45 17 at 6000 rpms you would be at 119 mph

TreverLT i dont know what your tire is on your truck right or rpm you shift at but the 275 40 17 is to small for you but that 295 45 17 would be dead on prob. If you shift at 6500 rpms then the 275 40 17 would be the way to go. 275 40 17 at 6500 is 121 mph which would put you in the sweet spot going thru the traps.

Some people are going with like 29-30 inch tall drag radials or slicks.

if someonehas 4.10s gears and a 29 inch tall tire on their truck lets say redline is 6300 and goes thru the traps at 115 mph that means you will only be at 5500 going thru the traps you should be closer to at least 6000.

Im just trying to set you guys up with a combo that works. You dont need a wide tire in the mt drag rads to hook. 275 - 295 will be more than enough.

Ill say one thing the 275 40 17 goes thru the rpm range much faster. Lightest wheel/tire combo you can get and with my 4.10 gears in the tbss its like running a 4.93 rear end gear.
