Default tips on how to keep vband clamps from leaking?

I'm currently having horrible luck keeping mine from leaking. Luckily they are past the primary and secondary o2 sensors but the hissing at idle is annoying.. could I use some high temp rtv sealant on the flanges then put the vband clamps on over that or is it too much of a risk of going into the Turbo?

Take them apart, run a file over the face so there are good and flat. Loosen everything and slowly tighten it a little at a time. Copper RTV can help everything slide into place as you tighten it and it won't hurt the turbo, even it a little does squish into the tubes. The key is letting EVERYTHING move around and into position as you are tightening. If you tighten one thing first, then everything had to come into alignment with it and sometimes there is not enough movement for that to happen and let the v-band seal right.

Good stuff there. If that doesn't work, there's always baling wire and duct tape

That smells like some guy hated the shop he is bashing, and cobbled the exhaust system together himself to make the shop look bad. If not, and the shop really let a system like that leave their shop, then they deserve all the bad publicity that they get.

If you are welding, I would suggest to clamp the pieces together before welding to keep the flange cooler, and help dissipate the heat. Go slow too, only weld small spots at a time. This should keep it from warping.
