Default Tell me about superchargers

I don't know much about superchargers, but am looking at adding one to my 2000 2500 for towing and playtime. It has 243 heads, 218/226 +4 cam on a 114lsa, and long tube headers. I see pretty fair deals on used P1sc prochargers. How does this model compare to the D1sc? Magnachargers seem to be much more epensive. Are they worth it?

Get a magnacharger. Its a complete kit and fairly easy to install. This type of supercharger is better for low end power. You need this for a heavy truck. Similar kits will be of the "roots" or "twin screw" type.

P1SC and D1SC are centrifugal superchargers and develop most power in the upper RPM range. They are basically crap, especially in a truck application.

I agree with everything you said except that. There are several trucks on here that make some real nice power with Prochargers.

I don't agree with them being crap but they require a pretty healthy converter for best results and that's not going to jive with towing. For a lighter truck with some and/or large converter they seem to be putting down some decent numbers.

I believe in the application he has it would be crap.. But prochargers do put down good numbers when stalled to hilt and revved hard.. I think the magnuson tvs1900 would fulfill all of your needs and put a smile on your face when you want it to.. Also it would help towing alot..
