Default T6 too big?

Im looking to pick up a turbo off a buddy for a good deal, but im looking for your opinion on how it will run.

It is a Garrett 76mm with a T6 Flange and 96 a/r hot side.

Im looking to put this on my 1500 with a 5.3l in it. Im new to the FI world but looking to dive in head first. Just dont want to buy something thats a deal to find out it will not work.

Im planning on running the Borg Warner 72mm T6 on my 6.0

How much boost you planning on running?
Yea it would work, but its goin to have some lag if you are running a stock torque converter.

More info on your truck?

Truck it stock right now but in more pieces than anything. It is an 03 1500 with a 6" lift and 35" tires. Stock gears. Im planing on swapping in an 4l80e this summer then continuing on collecting parts for boost this next winter and slapping it together the following spring 2013.

Im looking at a 3000rpm stall boost goals for now are around 12psi. I want to keep the internals mainly stock for now but I plan on adding a cam, head studs and head gaskets.

truck have 3.42s?

you would be better off with the T4 76mm..
unless you can get a smaller exhaust housing then you might have something you can use.

No its the Z71 so it has the 3.73.
I figured the T6 would be a bit too big.
Thanks for your advice BTW

have you confirmed that?
ive seen Z71s with 3.42, 3.73 and 4.10s.

It wouldnt be "too big" if you wanted a good top end and not be in boost all the time..
you could get a smaller exhaust housing and make it more manageable.

Yeah I checked the build tag and it's 3.73. I wouldn't mind some turbo lag I just don't want it to start building boost too high up in the rpm's.
