Has anyone looked at the rotor profiles on Eaton's newest superchargers? They seem to be getting more twist with each generation. Funny, that.

polishing it may end up being the easiest way to go, we'll see, I'd have to trust it in someone else's hands though, not sure I can do that

Yes, they claim the Eatons are superior, yet each new version looks more and more like a twin screw whipple, this R&D statagy is obviously beyond my level of understanding.

they are using High Helix technology, I posted some info in here on the benefits of high helix blower rotors a while back, you might be able to find them using search, if not I can "bump" the thread for you. I also posted a thread on roots blower rotor evolution with pics you might find interesting

The thing about the modified roots is that the rotors have "male" lobes. While the whipple has "male" and "female" lobes and valleys. The whipple has a big twist, like a screw and it looks like eaton is going in the same direction with their roots setups, just on a differnt road.

what is so funny about it? Looks like it is still two like rotors, making it a roots style pump.

I've heard of 5 lobe rotors, never seen an example though.........

seems like the higher helix 122 rotors are a nice step forward but the TVS rotors are a significant step forward for use modified roots fans

a little history I found interesting:

1854 Rotary-lobe blower principle is discovered by Roots brothers
1867 Roots rotary positive displacement blower receives highest award at Paris World’s Fair
1867 New York subway under Broadway Ave. is powered by the “Western Tornado”, a 21-1/2 foot tall Roots blower
1873 Roots blower wins highest machinery award at Vienna Exhibition
1876 Roots blower takes first place at the U.S. Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia
1914 Roots Tri-Lobe impeller is patented
1929 Stacy Engineering purchases Roots and Connersville Blower. Stacy centrifugal pumps combine with Roots engineering to produce Roots centrifugal air blowers
1931 Stacy Engineering merges with International Derrick & Equipment Company (IDECO)
1941 Roots supplies the U.S. Navy submarines and large surface craft with special screw compressors used to blow ballast
1944 Dresser Industries, Inc. acquires control of Roots
