I was under the impression diesel exhaust temps are higher than gas exhaust temps...

Yeah, the diesel guys who make big power have crazy EGTs... They just dump fuel because AFR doesn't matter on a diesel, and exhaust goes way hot.

Yeah that bit got me perplexed as well. I've heard they can get as high as 1800-2000 degree's during some short stints. Hence the use of water injection.

You guys are right, modified diesel guys are running huge EGTs, but stockers are only in the 1300*c, where as gas motors can see as high as 1500*c especially in forced inductions.

I am refering to a stock Detroit Diesel 14 liter turbo, they run a rather low EGT in stock trim. I believe the turbo is rated to 1200*c.

Well keep us updated!! Sounds promising!! But doesn't Porsche already have VGT turbo's? What materials are they using to make their work so well?

Thanks, and I meant *F for the EGT not *C, 1500*C would be HOT!

Yes coincidentaly Porches uses a B-W turbo that is the same design but made with more exotic materials. They are to small and expensive to experiment with unfortunatly.
