Default supercharged crankcase ventilation

trying to KISS (keep it simple stupid), I have read and re-read thread after thread and after all that info I'm back where I started, not sure what to do. What I'd really like is just a critique of my crankcase ventilation plan.....

I'm going with these aftermarket valve covers:

The plan is to run a 3/8" line from the drivers side valve cover to an Elite Engineering Catch can to my intake tube and that's all.

2 questions:

does that sound like a good plan?
should I add a oneway valve?

thanks

grippy,

Couple things...

... if you change ANYTHING regarding PCV and its "leak" after a "final" tune due to crank case breather "upgrades" you WILL have to retune. SO, figure your FINAL setup BEFORE you commit to someone spending time on your tune.

I have felt that recovering crank case oil misting into a catch can versus fouling a crank case breather is the best approach. Unfortunately I played a little here and a little there on my catch can crank case breather setup up and before I knew it... it had screwed with my drivability portion of the tune. I added my crank case breather can off of my oil fill port as I have documented here. WELL... the fact that I incrased the diameter of the "leak" into the PCV setup... TOTALLY screwed with my tune. NOTE: MAF tune... not MAP / SD. I was popping Reduced Engine Power codes due to lean conditions. My tuner said WHY do you still have a PCV catch can setup? "Quit screwing with PCV and get rid of it". SO, I have removed my catch can / PCV setup totally. My tuner completed yet another drivability tune and told me to quit screwing with it... unless we PLAN power upgrades. Thats why I said awhile back that Slowhawk was right... get rid of PCV. Crank case vent and then tune.

At the end of the day... listen to the tuner... and after he gives you your final tune... DON'T TOUCH IT! hehehehe

I made a homemade catch can, Clear so I could see what I accumulated. I was suprised to see how little I got. usually just condensation from the heat. now after 3 months I'm actually getting some color, but no oil, just condensation. If thats any indication of the condition of my motor, I'm real happy.

Bill, Thanks for the good info bro

Does my setup look functional while keeping the system sealed?

I guess the reality is, I don't/won't know if its adequate until I run it. I'm just trying to avoid anything out of the ordinary if possible. Worst case I have to re visit the design at a later date. Best case, this design is all I'll ever need, however, I would like to start from a sound design vs crap

this topic always gets blown out of proportion and i've seen some pretty retarted setups on here. i personally would never remove the pcv system. just run a line from the pcv to the catch can, and from the catch can to the back of the J-tube( which does not see boost so no need for a check valve or anything like that). for the fresh air inlet run a line from the other valve cover to a source between the throttle body and maf sensor if possible to keep the system sealed, if not possible just run a oil-cap breather. now, how complicated is that

devin i think the question is what are your plans for the tune? maf or SD? that would best help you choose. not to mention the reason that im keeping my setup ( same as bills) since im SD.

Why not leave it run the way it has been all along? Did you have some problems with it like that?
