*UPDATE* I took off most of the intake piping again tonight just to double check for oil and any water I may have got into the system. No more OIL! :cheer: There was just a little itty bit of water, most of it made it to the IC and stopped, before I ever ever drive in the rain again I will certainly use the snorkel. I figured today that I might get away with it because it wasn't really raining too bad and I certainly didn't ford any water or go cruising through any large puddles, but the K&N filter did get moist and the turbo helped push some of it up the piping, so I took it off and cleaned it all up again and lesson learned. Use snorkel if it even looks like rain. Too easy to put on anyways.

That's what I get for taking it off though, I did it last night telling everyone, oh yeah it hardly EVER rains here. And viola, it pours the next day.

I drove the truck around for a while last night, and quite a bit today, I figure if the oil would appear it would at least begin to look a little misty and thankfully non at all showed. Hopefully tomorrow I can get my crap packed and head for TRT *5 hour trip*so they can double tap my install just to put me at ease.

Another thought from where the water came from...the water might be from the exhaust condensing after shut down. I had to drill a hole at the lowest point of the piping. When I drilled it I saw about 12-18 oz of water poured out after about 500miles of driving it. The small hole doesn't effect any spooling or boosting but lets any condensation leak out after shut down. Just FYI

I was reading through the FMIC install instructions and well saw the same thing last night. Did you drill a 1/16th in hole like they suggest? I had considered doing the same before I take off down to TRT. I was going to drill it on the passenger side of the IC at the very bottom in the corner near the up pipe connector. Spoolin does your MAF freak out at all when it gets even just a little bit of water on it? I am concerned more about the MAF than anything else, they are expensive and I hate cleaning them because I am always afraid I will screw it up.

Oh Spoolin I was going to ask, how many miles did your stock tranny last? I have been pretty easy on mine, but waiting on parts is making me ancy.

The MAF reading drop to 0 when the tiniest little bit of water hits them. That why it stumbles and falls on it face. I sprayed Meth though mine (disabled in the tune, but still showed on the scanner) because the temp sensor was still in it at the time, and i was running speed density. I then want back to a MAF tune for a while and moved the meth nozzle and temp sensor down stream and the MAF still worked fine. Actually, I think it was really clean from all the meth I sprayed though it, lol. I have also drill the a small hole on the bottom of the outlet side of my intercooler and has seemed to do a good job of keeping the moister out of it.

...doesn't take much to **** it up, fortunetly I've never had water/moisture anywhere near it so I've never had to deal with it...yet *knock on wood*

My tranny lasted me I would say about 2500 miles, that's just a guess. Even without the 2/4 band I still drove it around for about 10,000miles afterwards, it's was just kinda tricky and seriously annoying because you can't go WOT unless your at +75mph, anything else you have to baby it. Anyways, it's in the shop now. But I figure as long as you baby it you'll be ok for a while, I was really, really rough on my tranny, I had an FLT already ordered and figured who cared and frequently cruised in 1 gear just to annoy the crap out of passing motorists because of the LOUDNESS of it. If your smart and baby it I don't think you'll have any problems.

IMO you should drill two small holes. First one on the up pipe on the HOT SIDE right as it goes into the turbo, that is where I found the most water! It so happens it's the lowest part of the whole system and that's where all the water accumulates, also water drops hitting the turbine when she's at speed isn't good for it. Second hole, I would think anywhere on that up pipe on the passenger side would be good. Even better idea would be to put in a pet ****, that way you wouldn't have to worry about loosing any boost at all.

The lowest part of this up pipe is where the most water collects IMO! (No hard scientific facts, just from what I've noticed on my own set-up)

Well I made it to Ft Worth, and man it was terrible, even with the snorkel on and all the rain the truck kept stubling and staggering. I pulled into a gas station and it died on me, so i crawled under the front and pulled the up pipe off from the IC...oil and water poured out. I checked my engine oil, no mixing, so tomorrow I am going down the street to TRT and see if they can fix me up. I hate to say it but I was pretty upset driving in the rain and stumbling over and over and over again at light throttle. I logged the entire 300 miles of the trip with EFI Live as well.

If there is that much water getting in, there has to be something more going on. Usually, there is not that much of an issue unless it is near flooding. There may be an issue with where you have the snorkel. We never use it or the sock on the trucks. We will take a look in the the a.m. and get you fixed up.

I'll be there. Lodged up overnight in FT Worth at my brother's place.

Sorry to hear these problems. All I can teel you is it can be fixed and many systems like mine have never had a water problem. Once you find the cause , you'll have smoothe sailing. Good luck.

PS... Do you have your cats still ?
