should i go 4.8
#14
man this 4.8 thing is catching on. push the 6.0 as far as it will go, then swap in a 4.8. never thought i'd say that. i'm considering a built 4.8 (forged bottom end) and push 20+ lb boost thru it. 800+ rwhp and sub 10sec. should be possible. nothing wrong w/ being different.

Ok this is nonsense. Is your 6.0 forged or stock bottom end? If you are nervous and on a stock bottom end, rebuild it with forged components. A stock LQ4 MAY have a very very slightly lower tolerance to big boost than a stock 4.8, but the larger displacement enhances streetability and power curve and no way can a forged 4.8 hang with a forged 6.0. If you're that hungry for change I say build the 6.0 instead of seeing how hard you can push a stock-block 4.8. JMHO.

Yeah i think the 4.8 is king is getting a little crazy.. I believe its a great motor.. but the guys who made a 4.8 haul usually did it because its what they already had... NO WAY would i ever ditch a 6.0 for a 4.8.... ever. Im ok with this craze though... i got several 4.8s and would love to trade them off for 6.0s or buy those crappy 6.0s cheap.. lol

Because the bore to stroke ratio of the 4.8 is more condusive to spinning higher RPM's in a boosted motor and allows the rods to live longer before failure.
But yeah, just push the 370, she should be able to take it just as well if not better than a stock 4.8.
