I know that aluminum is great for conducting heat, but that's not something that you want close to an engine. Depending on the densitiy of it . . . it would more than likely work.
Seeing how this is a first, there's got to be some reason for using it

the aluminum downpipes have been out for a while, all the Owtlaw True Ten 5's use it with no problem, and of course it also sheds some weight.......being a 5 incher made in stainless would be a lot heavier than this one.....

+1 for the aluminum downpipe. A lot of people have been running these for a while now. Its recommended that if you have a quick bend right after the turbo, that it be made of steel, but after that aluminum is ok. Guys on tech have even run them on the street with no issues too.
