yep, put a new one on and it fixed the problem.

The old one fell apart when I took it out.

If my FPR needs to be replaced, can it cause fuel pressure to drop sometimes, but not always? Mine seems to have a 50% chance when I hammer it whether it drops to like 30psi or raises to 60psi. Both pumps are running, but could be going out I suppose. Just wondering if a FPR can be worn out but still work intermittently.

 

Do you have an inline pump? Kinda sounds like it might have a bad connection or something if you do.

 

fww, when my inline died, it did what you describe. But ALSO fww, a fpr replacement is cheap troubleshoot IMHO.

 

I have an inline and stock intank. When the inline dies, does it still make the whining fuel pump noise? I'll probably buy a new FPR for the hell of it. Mine has 175k miles on it so it won't hurt to replace it.

Also, not trying to hijack the thread. My question seems to be on topic with the original post, so I figured I would just post it here.

 

When my inline died it started whining louder. What I was told is that with a stock pump feeding it, once you hit a certain power level the inline is sucking fuel faster than the stock pump can supply it, so it puts added strain on the pump and causes it to fail.
