pulley size and boost

how much smaller must your pulley get in order to see another 1 psi of boost?
I'm wanting to get a 2.9" pulley for my sidemount and was wondering if I'll see over 5psi. I'm currently seeing only about 3psi
and want to bump it up to about 6-7psi with a meth kit. A week ago I was barely creeping away from a rc/sb 4.8l silverado with a cam, intake and slight tuning and exhaust. I want to flat out out run him next time. BTW: How do you measure the size of the pulley, is it from outer lip to outer lip or do you measure from side to side where the belt rides on the pulley? Thanks

I would do the meth kit with your set up before you put on a smaller pullley then you can keep your intake temp down and you can add more timeing. When I did mine it added alot of power. You really do need to do a meth kit with that charger. They put out tons of heat and if you do a smaller pulley with out the meth you might burn you motor up.

I'm going to install the meth with the smaller pulley. About how much boost do you think I'll make with the 2.9 pulley on my 5.3l since I'm only getting 3 psi with the stock pulley?

I'm not sure you should do a search to find out how big your stock pulley is I think mine is 3.0 but it's for a 6.0 (it takes a smaller pulley to make boost on a bigger motor) I think yours might be 3.3 so if you run a 2.9 you should make around 7 psi.

Did you ever measure your stock pulley size?I have a 2.9" or so that gave me 6-7 psi on a sidemount (I Sold it,too noisy for me).BUT it hits the houssing and you have to grind the housing a little.BIG power increase. The stock pulley was lame

I believe my stock pulley is a 3.3". So I need to grind a little on the blower snout to get the pulley to slide over it?
