Procharger Intercooler????
#1
Hey I bought a 3-Core Procharger Intercooler to replace my 2-Core that came with the kit and Im running into clearance issues with spoiler and sway bar. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Wish I could just go ahead and run a BIG FMIC behind the grill just not sure what size I need to run, and would hate start building all the piping for it??
Any help would be appreciated!

You will get better results with a large front mounted FMIC over the horizontally mounted Procharger version. A generic eBay 27 x 12 x 3 fits perfectly between the bumper mounts. You can pick up a 3" piping kit with a few 90 degree "J" pipes and silicone couplers/clamps and re-use most of your Procharger piping.
I've used this one on half a dozen builds/kits. Good quality, great price. AIT's generally ran about 5-15 degrees over ambient even after a hard charge.

If you order all the parts, it's only a few hours to do the conversion.

Just moving your ATI Intercooler to the front will make it more efficient because of the increased airflow. From what others have posted, I always seemed to have lower AIT's and much faster recovery time after a hard charge. The down side of such a larger intercooler is it will marginally increase the lag time due to the larger capacity.
Let's not forget the most important reason. It's looks bad *** through the grill...

Will this setup cool that well on a truck with a solid bumper when mounted between the bumper mounts? My truck is a Z71 with the solid bumper... I have the valence below with fog lights and tow hooks. I just don't see how an intercooler mounted in that position will have adequate access to airflow because my bumper doesnt have any vents like some of the aftermarket bumpers have. Does anyone have install pics of a FMIC mounted behind the grille in front of the radiator? Also just from the front so we can see how it looks through the grille? Im sure others are interested as well

I'm running a GMC so it's a little easier than a Silverado. The picture doesn;t show the plastic stock insert I put back on when I finished the install. Looked really clean and you could still see some of the FMIC and most of the blue silicone couplers.

I've read/seen quite a few guys run the Tahoe valance. What ever you do, just having a few openings will force in a ton of air compared to the hot air being force through the ATI intercooler position from the engine compartment.
