Procharger Fuel System Question....
#1
Hey guys. I've got the 2006 Z-code flex fuel L59 engine. With the appropriate Procharger kit for my year truck with the 5.3 with the upgraded D1SC and upgraded 3-core intercooler the kit would run me around $5299. The tuner kit with the same upgrades would run me $4699. Of course the complete system has all the fuel system upgrades that come with it along with the handheld tuner for recalubration. My question is that I've heard that the later flex fuel trucks do not need the fuel system upgrades like bigger injectors and a bigger fuel pump. Would the tuner kit work just fine with 10lbs of boost with the stock fuel system and then I could get it tuned at a shop where I live here in Va? Thanks guys.

The tuner kit includes the brackets and everything needed to mount the D1SC supercharger, 3-core intercooler, and to plumb everything. It comes with everything except fuel system upgrades and tuner. I got that price from JDS Performance parts which was purchased by Arts Performance Parts.

Black Bear Tuning is in Va.
Don't forget about a wideband and boost gauge.

From what I have read online, the flex fuel injectors are rated at 38lbs and the OEM flex fuel pump is in the 250lph range. If that's true both , would be fine for a 10lb system.
As mentioned earlier, Bob at EP will know for sure but it sounds like you use the money you save on the tuner kit for some real tuning. The handheld's are weak at their best, a mailorder tune will get you in the right ballpark and a in-person tune with a good tuner will be night and day better than the first two options. When I was running a Procharger, I used a very reputable mail order tuner and was pretty happy. Then I had a in-person tune by Rick @ Synergy and my truck became a ton more responsive and felt and easy 30-40 HP faster. Sorry for the subjective, Butt-dyno reporting but I can't find a AWD dyno in Nor Cal to give yo usome hard numbers.

Thats what I was hoping that my injectors and fuel pump would be able to pump enough fuel so that I could get the tuner kit and get a in-person tune to make sure the truck is tuned right. Even if I had to I could get 42lbs injectors and keep the stock fuel pump for now which is good enough for me. Thanks again and I'm giving Bob a call this morning just to make sure.
