5.3L crank and rods would require different pistons as the compression height is going to be different. You would be better served to either get an LS1 engine or going bolt on + power adder.

I would consider going in this order:
1. Headers and y-pipe
2. Torque converter (maybe a Yank 2800 or 3000 w/ Trans cooler (essential if you want the trans to last, I would consider a trans temp gauge too, your call on that one)
3. Ported cylinder heads and upgraded cam.
While you could do a mail order tune, I always try to steer people to either buy software yourself or find a local guy that has it and might help you out. The best way of tuning a vehicle is to drive it; it's a two man job.

thanx alot i will take your advice with high considerations. i thought about a trans temp gauge, ill look into getting one today. just to start out small. and i believe i found some headers for a good price.
