Over drive Whipple 2.3
#1
Anyone ever do it?
I have an ATI overdrive balancer, 8 rib kit, and a 3.0 upper pulley on there right now. I only see 12 lbs.
I have a 2.75 pulley on the table but this will pass the max blower speed of 18000 RPM. (8.29" / 2.75 = 3.01. 3.01 x 6000RPM = 18060 blower rpm.
I want to spin the engine to at least 6500 but that will over drive the blower to 19565 rpm.
Thoughts anyone?

I have not overspun a roots blower, yet, but I will likely overspin mine once I get the new setup up and running and pulley down to get back to 15psi. At a proposed 6800 shift point, I will likely only be at 18,700 so only overspining by 3.7%. I know the Cobra and Lightning guys overspin them all the time. I personally wouldn't be worried till over 20K rpm. Manufacturers ratings are always on the safe side. You could likely go 20% over the rating and never have a failure because of it. However, trying to warranty it if it does fail will surely be a failure.

Thanks for the info.
