Oil source & drain for non-SC Procharger?
#1
I'm thinking about replacing my P-1SC with a D-1. The D-1 has a 4.44:1 vs a 4.10:1 internal stepup on a D-1SC so I can run a larger diameter pulley (less belt slip). I did some searching here and over at LS1 Tech and didn't find much on where to tap into the pressurized oil source and how to handle the oil drain back. I was planning on drilling and tapping the oil pan for the drain but I wanted to see if there were any other options out there.
Any ideas/pictures would be appreciated.
Thanks, Rick

You can tap into the remote oil cooler block off adaptor right above the oil filter. Pic below shows where I feed my turbo. In the pic I just had it capped off because I drilled/tapped the adaptor (1/8" NPT) prior to turbo kit install. Not sure what the oil feed requirements are of the D1 but a -3 or -4AN should get you there. Contact Procharger if you are not sure.

Just curious, are you getting a good deal on the D-1 or are you just going to buy it out right. If you are going to buy it outright I would suggest bumping up to the F series blowers. 5.4 step up ratio and still fit in the same P series bracket.

my boosted vette isn't self contained, the oil for that is run from the front of the block on the driver's side forward of the motor mount, there's a hex fitting in there I pulled and replaced with an AN adapter. Drain on this is on the front of the pan with a tapped fitting.
On my buddy's 06 GTO with an APS I remember using that same plug and another on the passenger side somewhere, can't remember off the top of my head, drain on taht went back into the valve cover (tapped into the filler neck area)
On my road race vette I have pressurized oil coming from just over the filter area with a bulkhead adapter into -12 to run oil through the internal oil cooler in the oversized radiator for now (going drysump shortly so who knows wtf is gonna be goin on after that)
The suburban is a self contained unit.

Bill, I'm pretty sure my truck has the remote oil cooler installed (too dark to check at the moment). I'll have to see is I can tie into that.
WJ Mark, Got your PM. Very cool adapter.
Jason, Got a really good deal on a new D-1 with a Procharger oil line kit. If I could get a F series for anywhere near what I paid, I would jump on it it a second.
Y2K Limited, I'll look for the hex fitting while I'm checking out the oil filter mount.
Thanks for all the advice guys. The D-1 should get here by the end of the week so I want to have an idea what I need to get it installed next weekend.

I found this on ebay if you don't have an oil cooler installed.
