Need some head...
#1
-advice! Im putting my truck together and started thinking. I have a 2000 6.0 that came with steel heads. I have since installed some 317s that have been shaved .020 and cleaned up and Im using a 224 small lift cam. I also have an assortment of stock 5.3 heads.
I have been reading up on the pos displacement blowers and how they love the higher compression of the ls2s and such. What do you guys think about loosing some flow of the 317s to get the higher compression of the 5.3 (stock) heads? Ive got the roush tvs1900, and Im only expecting about 5-6lbs with the shaved 317s. Let me know what you think- good or bad!

Im guessing my lq4 compression is up to par with the lq9 now with my shaved heads. Im not too worried about the deck, but I will keep that in mind. 7#s is pretty decent, but is your engine completeley stock? Im thinking that with the cam and long tubes Im going to lose at least a couple lbs. That is why Im wondering about upping the compression more with the 5.3 heads. Im just not sure if the decrease in flow will overcome the compression points.
