Here is a good link, but a very basic one. I'm sure every state has an equivalent:

Yeah what's the old saying? If the price is too good to be true then.... I'd watched the website and noticed that the ad stayed up for just over a week. But I was trying to be positive and blaming car-part.com for being slow in taking it down. Should've known that's not how my **** goes.

That is some shady ****!!! When they shipped mine i ripped open the bag to verify it was a 6.0 block before i signed for it, rest didnt much matter with plans i had for it....

Thanks for the link lx. I searched until around 3 this morning looking for something similar. Naturally haven't heard from them yet but am fixing to contact the FTC and the New York state DMV that handles licensing for dismantlers before I call them back.
Unfortunately I couldn't be there when it was delivered. We don't have a forklift at our location and my boss who oversees KY operations didn't want to be liable for unloading it, didn't want to pay another employee to unload it or let me unload it because I haven't received my forklift certification yet. So I had to have it delivered to another business here in town. I'll have to remember that the next time he needs a favor.

Well that sucks! I hope they make it right.
Craigslist is full of that. We had a few out my way pulling the same crap. I went to look at 2005 with 50k miles. I looked at the engine and it's obviously an early 5.3L as it has the spider coolant tube that connects all 4 stem ports as well as a DBC Tb on it.
He says oh I had to change the manifold, the old one was cracked from the damage. He shows me the truck and says it came from that one.
Me " If it did, someone either changed it out or you're lying"
Him "What do you mean?"
Me "that's not an 05 block"
Him "how can you tell?"
Me "The casting date on the block tells me it was cast in 02. It's was either in a late 02 or early 03 production model"
him " maybe my guys mixed it up I will have to get the paperwork for that one then"
Me "would you like the last few digits of the vin it's on the block as well"
Him "really, where?"
After showing him he goes in his office for a few minutes, comes back out and says I am not sure where that came from then I can't find the paperwork.
Me "Are you sure it's even a 5.3L your selling."
him " Pretty sure. 5.3's have 706 and 4.8's have 862 heads."
Me " Actually that's not true. They could have either or depending on the plant they were produced at. If you're willing, we can pull a spark plug and check the piston and if that doesn't work we can drop the pan and verify the casting on the crank.
Him " ok let me have one of my guys get some tools."
Guy pulls plug and rotates motor. I stick a piece of something in there and feel that it's a flat top piston. We debated it for a few minutes and I had him pull the pan to verify. It had a 482 casting.
I show him a 4.8l has a 12553482 casting crank number with a shorter stroke and longer rods and a 5.3L uses a 12552216 casting crank number with a slightly shorter rod.
Then I noticed the Flexplate was flat with 6 TQ holes and it had a spacer on it. It turns out it came from a van with a 4.8L/4L80E combo.
