Default Need insight and info on a turbo setup...60mm turbonetics

I have a friend who decided not to finish modding his mint Syclone and wants to sell his stuff.

He has a 60mm ball bearing Turbonetics, downpipe, injectors, stall, AEM boost controller, and ext. waste gate for a price I can't turn down.

Well, the injectors and stall are out of the question, correct?

My truck is an otherwise stock motor minus the headers and tune, and I don't plan on doing anything else. Just run some small boost for now.

Is this a poor decision? Should I just leave the truck alone since I am not willing to build the motor right now?

Said turbo

What size motor do you have? What size is the waste gate and what are the rest of the specs on the turbo?

5.3l, sorry.

I believe it is a 48mm waste. What other specs do you need? I can get it for you today. It was bought from sytyperformance as a kit a few years ago.

That's a small turbo, probably not worth it unless there are two

What are your goals?

If you are not prepared for it to break, dont start modding it.

Not worried about things breaking...I'm well aware how modding goes.

Yes, this turbo on my truck, not really looking for specific goals. I find when you start chasing something it tends to lead to overspending and overcompensating.

I'm more interested in gaining realistic information about the turbo and if it's worth it. I can get everything for around $625 minus injectors and stall.

It is a small turbo, but I am not looking to blow the doors off everything around town. I usually make spur-of-the-moment decisions on things, and while talking with him last night, I made an offer and he accepted.

This is the kit he purchased. Race Proven Motors Store - Turbo Kit - 50 Series (High 11-Low 12s)

Turbine is prolly really small so it would work and have good low end, but your not gonna be shifting it at 6000rpms.

I would skip on the turbo... you might grab the boost controller if he would sell it cheap though

Thanks guys, between pt.net and a couple other forums, seems it wouldn't really be worth the trouble. I'll hold off. I wasn't really at the point of boosting but if the deal was worth it I was going to jump on it.
