Muffler for my STS kit

What are some suggestions for a muffler for my STS kit? I was think of buying a 2 into 1 muffler and having it replace the y pipe in front of the turbo Hooker. Another option I was also thinking about is 2 short glasspacks in front of the turbo before the Y. I need to do something becasue it is too loud when towing.

this is off topic some, but do you have any sound clips of you truck now?

It isnt any louder than a mild performance exhaust, but when you put a load behind it it gets very loud.

I used a Magnaflo muffler. You want a straight through type of muffler for the best flow for forced induction. I tried the 1ch Flowmaster as well and didn't like the sound as much and it felt like I lost a bit of power.

Sounds like some straight through glass packs should work.

Just make sure they are quality units so you keep as much packing in them in the long term or it's gonna end up sounding like ass when it all blows out LOL

Are you talking about putting a muffler with packing before the STS turbo? I hope I'm misunderstanding... because that is a bad idea. I wouldn't put any muffler in front of a turbo. Every muffler I've ever seen had a little bit of junk inside of it from the welding/cutting /grinding of assembly that blows/burns out and in your case it would go straight into your turbo impeller.

I hope you meant that you wanted a muffler on the turbo exhaust.

Ok, thats a good point about the packing blowing out I forgot about that. So are there any bad effects if I put a muffler after the turbo?

Nothing much as long as it isn't restrictive.

Keep the diameter of the through hole at least the same size as the turbo outlet. I did a 3" tailpipe and wish I would have done 3.5" or 4". I felt a small amount of spool up lost from the back pressure. I plan on putting on a resonator with a turn down on it in the spring or over winter.
A straight through muffler is good, just make sure it is straight through, not channeled or a multi baffled design.
Back pressure is bad for turbo spool up!!
