Default Methanol vs. paint

I'm using the windshield washer reservoir for my meth/water tank, and was wondering if methanol is bad for paint? The reason I ask is that I use my windshield washer quite often, and was hoping to be able to use my meth/water mix as a windshield washing fluid. The under 32F washer fluids have methanol in them, so I figure I they should be okay for paint. But perhaps these fluids have damaging properties that I don't know about? Or they have other additives that help prevent paint damage? I think the -40F fluid have around 50% methanol in them.

Right now I'm running 33/67 meth/water, and probably won't go above 50/50. Mixing it with water makes it around $3 to $4/gal which is not too much more expensive than regular washer fluid, so I don't feel bad wasting it on my windshield. In my area you can't find washer fluid that's under 32F, so I'm stuck with mixing methanol and water, which I don't mind because I know exactly what's in my mix.

Thanks!

It shouldnt be bad considering its not just sitting on paint. It will probably evaporate before the spray moves more than a few feet over the windshield

I've been doing it and spaying it for years on my truck. No paint issues yet!

It takes methanol sitting on the paint for quite some time (like days) before it softens it up. Some plastics on the other hand will damn near melt away instantly.

I've ran everything from strait -20* wwf, to 50/50 meth/wwf, to strait meth. Really never noticed much difference between them, lol. Most of the time I just run strait wwf. If I'm gonna go to the track and beat on it with high boost, I'll put the 50/50 in it.

I stock up on the -20 stuff whenever I go up to Wyoming.

I don't run the strait meth anymore cuz the last time I did, is when I blew the head gasket out the side of the motor. Don't know if it was the meth or what. All I know is it ran fine at a race in Feb on 15psi and the 50/50, had the same tune and first pass at a race in April, it spit the head gasket with 100% meth. Don't know if that was the cause or not, but was the only difference. So I'll stick to having some water/wwf in with my meth.
