LSA Blower in 2000 silverado, Can I use LSA Map sensor?

I just installed a LSA Blower in my truck and I still have the original computer.

I'm waiting on a tune from Blackbear but I probably wont hear from him until Monday at the soonest.
Im worried he is going to tell my my map sensor wont work with my computer.

I bought a ZL1 lid off Ebay and it came with the 3 bar map.

I was looking at a couple of forms while I was splicing the LSA pig tail to my factory harness and I saw a few people mention the 3 bar map may not work with the earlier year computers.

Should I go ahead and hunt down a different map sensor over the weekend so I am ready when Justin gets back to me?

Thanks ahead for any help! Here is a picture of the blower installed.

We demand a full write up,to include.

Full cost break down, to the penny.
All parts,
Part numbers.
Any and all problems,
how you extended the fuel line.
What your doing with the intake tube.
How many beers did it take.
what colorful language was used.
And finally what color was the sky when you started and finished.

:hail:

Im becoming more and more jealous of these LSA blower installs.
Looks awesome.

I am not using the LSA fuel rail, this one is custom and stock fuel line stays in stock location.
Ill have to take a more recent picture to show you the intake tube. Its basically just a cheap ebay 135 Degree silicone U shaped coupler off the throttle body to a 18 inch long 4 inch aluminum tube that connects to the the stock MAF with a 4inch to 3.75 inch coupler. MAF is in stock location at airbox.
I'm going to run electric fans.

The map sensor part number is 12592525 (LS9). I'm reading that because you cannot enter negative values in the older computers this map will not work. I also read you can still use it.

arthursc2 11-23-2015 08:45 AM

You can use that 3 bar if you flash your OS to one that had 3 bar capability.

The ECU is capable of doing it, your OS is not. Getting the OS from a later model C5 is the easiest way to go about it.

Cheapest way to go about it is to tap the hole the 3 bar is sitting in, thread in a barb. From that barb, run a short line over to a 2 bar sensor

GM 2bar Map Sensor Turbo Boost with Plug Wires 12247571 16009886 16040609 | eBay

Use some zip ties to help hold the line on, the barb on the MAP is pretty small for a clamp. I think I used 1/4" line.

The truck OS can read 2 bar just fine, and unless you want to make more than 14psi at sea level, 2 bar will get you where you want to be.

Hope that helps

Did you swap to rect. port heads or are these still cathedral with adapters?

embs2001 11-25-2015 08:50 AM

Thanks for the input guys, I think Justin is going to try and update my OS and use the 3bar. Its good to know about tapping that whole to use a 2 bar map, I didn't think of that.

I used adaptor plates on cathedral heads.

Custom fuel, like some homemade special? I'm curious, as I am about to pull the trigger on my LS9 fuel rail.

arthursc2 11-27-2015 09:01 PM

How did the OS reflash go?

Wolftrk99 11-27-2015 10:13 PM

Man the more lsa setups i see the more i want one!!!! Recent pics??

embs2001 12-01-2015 11:30 PM

I got a base tune and OS flashed and so far everything is working good. Its very rich under boost. I over estimated how much boost it would make when I gave Justin all my info. I plan on doing some data logging through the auto cal tomorrow so hopefully Justin will get me dialed in a little better.

I just installed the electric fans and I have yet to see them cut on yet so hopefully its not too big of a head ache.

Ill make sure to take some pictures tomorrow.

The fuel rail was made buy the same guy who did my adapter plates. Jesse Olson of Olson Kustom Works. He also sells a front drive kit that relocates the alternator and power steering but we found out the version he was making at the time did not fit 4x4s. The powersteering pulley would hit the steering box before pressing all the way on. I think he has since revised that kit for 4x4s.

Luckily a guy right down the road from me make a great kit to relocate the alternator and power steering. His name is Murphy Wallace of LS Simple. He hooked me up.

BTW a guy asked cost earlier.....
I got nickle and dimmed but I think I still came out ok.
There were a lot of little things that I did not think of until I started installing things.

I originally wanted to find a Used Magnuson Tvs 1900 kit but when I figured out I could do this cheaper, I went this direction.
I also waited for months for a used tvs kit and I only found one at the time and the guy didn't seem motivated to sell or remove from his truck I guess... so I pulled the trigger on LSA blower.

Here is the parts list. Ill probably update it as time goes on and as I remember items.

LSA Blower- $550 ebay
ZL1 Lid new- $344 ebay
Lingenfelter solid isolator- $55 summit
Adapter plates- $425 OKW
Fuel Rail- $300 OKW
LSS Front drive kit- $475 LSS
Cts-v injectors used- $200 ebay
Delphi to EV6 adapters- $33 ebay
3 bolt to 4 bolt TB adaptor- $24 ebay
Bosh heat exchanger pump- $94 ebay
Coolant reservoir- $85 ebay
Heat exchanger - $90 ebay
Intake parts- $60 ebay
Break out harness for IAT- $21 Summit
LS3 Map pigtail- $22 Summit
Walbro TU432HP-2- $235 amazon
Corvette regulator/filter- $34 amazon
Electric fans 2006 truck used- $125 Ebay
BPautomotive Electric fan harness- $150 ebay
Misc Hose, Clamps, Fluids,Fittings,ect...- $ who Knows, Ill call it $50
Total: $3372 (may go up as I remember little things and spend more money on it)(NOT Including Tuning)

If I had to do it over, I think I would just wait on a used Magnuson kit. Its all figured out already and comes with instructions.

Wolftrk99 12-02-2015 12:36 AM

May be all figured out, but this wy youve learned a lot and done it yourself.... Theres defintely a coolness factor in that alone

You are right.

embs2001 12-02-2015 02:02 PM

Here are some recent pictures. Id like to make the intake look a little better, this was temporary. I want to run a different upper radiator hose that could go down and under the intake but its fine for now. Also get rid of all of those white zip ties for some black ones lol.

Wolftrk99 12-02-2015 08:02 PM

Im gonna go out on a limb and say that u turn the air intake makes is not good.... Seems like the air would start tumbling and slow way down, have you looked into relocating the battery and putting the air intake where the battery is at all?? Maybe run the radiator hose under the intake??? Looks good though, wish i had the money and time to find and get one on my truck.....

Wolftrk99 12-02-2015 08:04 PM

And then i took a closer look the throttle cables look they they could come off at that angle may wanna see if you cant bring em over some more inline with the throttle body....

Relocating the battery is my ultimate plan. Good eye, My plans today are to make a bracket to move the cables over a inch or two. I just bolted the cables to a open thread on the lid. The throttle works fine for now, just not the smoothest.

2 SSlow 12-03-2015 02:57 PM

How much boost is it making? 6.5psi on the 2.95 pulley and stock truck crank pulley?

Looks good. I can't wait to get mine going on my 6.2, but I need more money! lol.

embs2001 12-03-2015 05:31 PM

8-9 psi stock crank pulley, stock blower pulley. 5.3 with dual exhaust, stock exhaust manifolds, stock throttle body, stock airbox, stock longblock.

Another guy using the same blower and adaptors saw 8.8 psi on his 5.3.

Wolftrk99 12-03-2015 07:18 PM

How much hp/tq increase did you get from it?? Seriosuly thinking about finding the funds to get one for my 99, down the road..

embs2001 12-03-2015 07:24 PM

I don't know, its still only running on a base tune. The wideband is maxed out rich and im sure there no timing in it. I sent in a data log to Justin so the next tune should run stronger.
I can already feel a good increase in power but im hoping for more. I plan on putting it on a dyno next time there is a dyno event near me.

Wolftrk99 12-04-2015 10:01 AM

Post results when you get them, curious as to how much of an increase it is, do you have numbers from before by chance??

embs2001 12-04-2015 10:11 AM

No, but it was bone stock.

Wolftrk99 12-04-2015 11:21 AM

Ok cool..

embs2001 12-04-2015 08:44 PM

All I know is I couldn't do this before the blower....

Wolftrk99 12-04-2015 09:50 PM

Nice!!!!

So far so good. Got all of the bugs worked out. I probably have over 1000 miles with the blower now..

Still working with blackbear to get the tune finalized but I must say it is a slow process working with him. I guess he is a busy guy.

I have some long tubes I need to install. I have plans to get a 90mm throttle body (still running the stock truck tb).
I want to replace the G80 with a truetrac.
Ill finish it off with a vinci trucker cam and smaller pulley and call it a day.

embs2001 01-08-2016 11:56 AM

I have been looking at the powerbond 10% overdrive crank pulley and I'm trying to determine how much this will increase boost.

The pulley comes in both 6 and 8 rib and I have no clue at what point the 6 rib will start to slip.

I plan for 12 psi with the Trucker cam and Have no clue what combination of pulleys will work best.

Nice, sure would like to eventually see some dyno numbers before and after cam. Would be interesting to see the gains.

embs2001 01-08-2016 01:18 PM

Yea, I really don't plan on having it dynoed before cam, unless I end up a Vengeance racing event or something. I'm willing to bet it is right around or under 400rwhp at my boost level.

Forsure a dyno after cam. Hope to have it all done by summer.

Have you verified if the intercooler pump is pumping water efficiently? It looks like it's mounted too high.

I just received my order from Jesse. Dude builds some quality stuff!

Yea, Don't mount it there, I had to move it down by the heat exchanger. Alot better now.

Alco 01-13-2016 08:05 PM

what trans are you running ? I'm gattering parts right now for the exact same thing ! have you considered dirtydingo.com plates to relocate the alternator ?

embs2001 01-13-2016 08:36 PM

4l65 trans.

LSsimple is the way to go for the brackets.

Thought I would post some videos I took since having the blower. Wanted to show the guys who are thinking about doing this what a stock 5.3 with the LSA blower can do.
